Passengers Prohibited to Activate Samsung Galaxy Note 7

SURABAYA (14/09) - The Directorate General of Air Transportation has prohibited passengers from including their Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphones and accessories into their baggage. This is in conformity with Circular Letter No: SE 18 Year 2016 received by the Juanda International Airport.

"We have acted on the circular by instructing the organizer of the Airport to ensure that Airline passengers and personnel not include their lithium battery, power bank and Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphones into their checked baggage," explained the General Manager of the International Airport, Yuwono when he explained the said circular of the Directorate General of the Ministry of Transportation dated September 13, 2016.

The circular letter signed by the Director General of Air Transportation, Suprasetyo, stipulates that the business entities of domestic and foreign air transportation are instructed to require their passengers and personnel to deactivate, or not use flight mode or charge their Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphones during flight. 

Passengers are also reminded to immediately inform the flight cabin personnel in the event of problems with their lithium battery, power bank and Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Smartphone such as out of order, overheat, emitting smoke or loss inside the air craft.

The circular prohibits inclusion of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices in baggage under the Circular on Flight Safety issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FFA), USA dated September 8, 2016 and Safety Information Bulletin from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) No: 2016-13 dated September 9, 2016.
